A highlight of the journey is the visit to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and the early-morning climb to Kala Patthar (5545m)—the best panoramic viewpoint of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and surrounding giants. Along the way, trekkers explore Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rare wildlife, scenic forests, and ice-carved landscapes. Mission Nepal Holidays ensures smooth logistics, trained guides, reliable porters, and well-planned acclimatization days for safety and comfort. Whether you are seeking adventure, culture, or personal accomplishment, this trek offers a transformative Himalayan experience.
The best seasons to trek to Everest Base Camp are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November). During Spring, the weather is warm, dry, and stable, with crystal-clear mountain views and longer daylight hours. Rhododendrons bloom across the hills, painting the trails with vibrant colors, and wildlife activity increases within Sagarmatha National Park. Temperatures at night remain cold but manageable, making it one of the most comfortable times of the year to trek.
Autumn offers equally exceptional conditions, with post-monsoon clarity producing some of the sharpest Himalayan vistas of the year. The skies are blue, the air is fresh, and trekking paths remain well-maintained and safe. This season also includes major cultural festivals like Dashain and Tihar, allowing trekkers to experience the cultural richness of Nepal. Both seasons offer excellent visibility, ideal trekking weather, and reduced flight delays when traveling to and from Lukla.
Best Trekking Months:
The Everest Base Camp Trek is considered moderate to challenging, requiring good physical fitness, stamina, and preparation. Trekkers walk between 5–7 hours daily on rugged mountain terrain, gaining altitude gradually as they enter the thin-air region above 4,000m. While the trek does not require technical mountaineering skills, proper acclimatization is essential to prevent altitude sickness. Mission Nepal Holidays ensures a safe pace, rest days, and experienced guides trained to handle emergencies.
Transportation includes a scenic flight from Manthali or Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the most adventurous air routes in the world. These flights provide stunning Himalayan views and save days of trekking time. On the return journey, trekkers fly back the same route. To enter the Everest region, travelers must obtain the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit and the Sagarmatha National Park Permit—both arranged by Mission Nepal Holidays for a hassle-free experience.
Key Points:
Food on the Everest Base Camp trail is provided through traditional Sherpa teahouses, offering warm meals and a surprising variety of dishes. Trekkers can enjoy Nepali staples like dal bhat, Sherpa stew, fried rice, pasta, soups, pancakes, and fresh bakery items in Namche Bazaar. Mission Nepal Holidays ensures hygienic food preparation, clean kitchens, and reliable meal options throughout the journey. Warm drinks—including tea, coffee, ginger lemon honey, and hot chocolate—help travelers stay energized in the cold mountain climate.
Accommodation consists of comfortable teahouse lodges with clean rooms, warm blankets, communal dining areas, and basic facilities. As altitude increases, amenities become simpler, but the hospitality of the Sherpa people remains exceptional. Some towns, such as Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, offer upgraded lodging with attached bathrooms and heated dining halls. Mission Nepal Holidays arranges the best available accommodations to ensure comfort and rest after each day’s trek.

We will be met by a Mission Nepal Holidays representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, and we will be driven to the hotel of our choice. When we get settled in, we might visit the Kantipur Holidays office or have a nap. At a typical Nepalese restaurant in the evening, there will be a welcome supper with traditional Nepalese food and a brief cultural display.
You’ll take a plane today to Lukla, where your Everest adventure will begin. At the domestic airport, you will be dropped off in preparation for your early flight to Lukla. We have breathtaking views of the high summits during the short flight. You will journey to Phakding, a quaint town on the edge of the Dudh Koshi River Valley in Khumbu, from Lukla. You can get amazing photos of the Kusum Kanguru Peak and other equally scary mountains along the way.
We pursue the trail north up the Benkar valley, passing a lovely wood of pines. The entrance to Everest National Park is Monjo, which we reach after crossing the Dudh Koshi River and continuing past Chumoa. Later, after passing through Jorsale hamlet and a suspension bridge, we continue to walk alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. We ascend steeply to reach Namche Bazaar, the principal hub of the Sherpa culture. If the weather is helpful, we can see Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse before arriving in Namche Bazaar.
The designated day for acclimatization is today. The hub of Khumbu’s commerce is Namche Bazaar. Fantastic views of Everest and many of the nearest Himalayan peaks, including Thamserku, Kongdi RI, and Ama Dablam, are possible from Namche. Here are the Everest Photo Gallery and the Sherpa Culture Museum. In addition, you can climb up to the airstrip at Syangboche, which is situated above the settlement. From Syangboche, you may get great views of Namche below and, in the distance, the Himalayan hills around the town. Likewise, you can go to the Everest glimpse Hotel, where every window offers a glimpse of the peaks of Everest.
This section of the walk will take us down to the famed Dudh-Koshi River, and from there, we’ll climb up through stunning rhododendron woods to Tengboche. Some of the most well-known mountain peaks in the world, such as Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and many more, will be breathtakingly visible to us along the route. We will see the biggest monastery in the area when we get to Tengboche and enjoy the breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and other peaks. Tengboche is where we’ll be staying the night.
We will hike through stunning woodlands that are home to a variety of trees, including rhododendron, conifers, and birches. We will be able to take in breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Mount Everest along the route. We will traverse the Imja River and go via Devuche on our way down to Pangboche. From here, we will travel on toward the Lobuche River and the Imja Valley before ascending to Dingboche. Beautiful fields with stone walls surrounding them, shielding crops like potatoes, barley, and buckwheat from the harsh weather and animals, can be seen at Dingboche. A stunning view of the Pangboche Monastery and the Himalayas may be had from the top Pangboche routes.
We’re saving today for acclimatization. You are going to hike up Nagarjun Hill, which is located close to Dingboche, today. The panoramic views of the Imja valley that can be seen from the summit make the walk uphill worthwhile, despite its difficult nature. Magnificent views of the Himalayan peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, are another thing you may take in. You will hike back down after enjoying the view for a while.
It’s crucial to remember that the ascent from Duglha to Chupki Lhara can be difficult and steep; therefore, it’s crucial to go cautiously to prevent altitude sickness. The emotional reminder of the dangers and sacrifices associated with ascending the highest peak in the world is provided by the memorials dedicated to Scott Fischer and Babu Chiri Sherpa. We’ll be treated to some very stunning views of the surrounding peaks as we continue along the Khumbu Glacier moraine, including Pumori, which is frequently referred to as “Everest’s daughter” due to its near proximity to the highest mountain in the world. At last, we will reach Lobuche, a tiny settlement that is a well-liked base camp for climbers going up Everest and other surrounding peaks. Lobuche has a variety of facilities for hikers, including restaurants, guesthouses, and shops that sell souvenirs and trekking gear, despite its isolated position.
We will hike across the once-large Gorak Shep Lake to reach Everest Base Camp. We shall pass monuments honoring the mountaineers of the Indian army along the route. It is imperative that we follow our lead Sherpa because the path can be difficult to navigate. The walk will be difficult due to the high altitude; before arriving at Everest Base Camp, we will cross streams, moraines, and rocky dunes. From there, the vibrant tents of the mountaineers will stand out against the drab surroundings. Beautiful vistas of Pumori, Khumbuste, and Nuptse will be visible to us. We’ll spend the night back in Gorak Shep after that.
While it’s best to visit Kala Patthar at sunset, when the sun is setting and the snow-capped mountains are at their most stunning, those who choose to visit Kala Patthar that day should let their guide know and they will make the required preparations.
Even in the dark and with temperatures between -10 and -14 degrees Celsius, we prepare to leave early in the morning. There can be cold winds as well. Leading peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse are visible to the east as we start our hike, and Mt. Everest gradually comes into sight as we go on. We are rewarded with an amazing close-up 360-degree vista of Mount Everest as we arrive at Kala Patthar. Before spending the night in Pheriche, we snap photos and savor the scenery.
We start the journey early, thus breakfast is served early for those who intend to visit Everest Base Camp. We will return to Gorak Shep for lunch with both groups because this hike takes longer than the Kala Patthar hike, and then we will descend to Pheriche for the night.
After leaving Pheriche, we make our way across hills dotted with juniper and rhododendron plants. We follow the river through dense pine forests, crossing the Dudh Koshi River on a bridge decorated with prayer flags. We might come across colorful pheasants and mountain goats in this woodland. The path brings us to Sansa, where the Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse mountains are visible in all directions. In addition, we travel a meandering trail through the jungle until we reach Namche Bazaar, our overnight destination.
The trail drops off sharply, and the rocky ground can be difficult on our weary legs, so we must exercise caution. A more flat and walkable section of the path follows after we pass suspension bridges across the swiftly flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries. Arriving at Lukla allows us to unwind and consider the events of the previous few weeks. Here in Lukla, we stay overnight.
Following our alpine hiking excursion, we will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu early in the morning. We can choose to relax or spend time shopping for souvenirs if we arrive in Kathmandu. Our guides can help us tour more of Kathmandu if that is what we would like to do. There will be a farewell supper later in the evening to commemorate our journey’s happy conclusion.
This is the final day of your Everest Base Camp Trek, and you can use the morning to review your photos, connect with fellow travelers, and exchange contact information, before our Mission Nepal Holidays representative accompanies you to Tribhuvan International Airport approximately three hours prior to your scheduled departure, ensuring a smooth and stress-free transfer, leaving you with ample time to plan your next exciting adventure to Nepal once you return home.
